About Me

Well, hello and welcome!

Main St. Cuisine blog

Thank you so much for stopping by.  My name is Allison and write the Main St. Cuisine blog.

I was born in New York, lived in Southern California for nearly 23 years and a few years ago we moved to a town just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina.  I like to travel [even road trips]  and would love to get to cooking school in Italy one day….a girl can dream, can’t she?

I draw inspiration from the the books I read, lovely movie sets, favorite magazines (Cooking Light, Elle Decor, Bon Appetit, & Country Living) and the blogs I follow.

I adore reading, a nice glass of wine, having friends over for dinner, playing in the backyard with my boys (and board games), dinner out with my husband, movies {from old black and whites to indies}, the occasional all-day shopping trip and gardening.

Other things I love: pearls, monograms, sterling flatware, gingham, linen towels, blue ticking fabric and buffalo check, pretty stationery, vintage transferware, homemade marshmallows and oxford shirts.

After five years on Main St., I’m still posting recipes and little bits of my life with my wonderful husband, sweet boys and Abby, our dog.

And, like most bloggers…I would love to hear from you {I’m pretty fantastic about emailing you back}.

Allison

Thanks, Sheri for your kind words. I’m hoping to be a little more consistent on my blogging this fall. And, I’m going to link to your blog in an upcoming post.

Allison – Just wanted to drop you a line and give you a big thank you. I have been following your recipes for some time now and I find them simply delightful. Being a single male, I haven’t had the proper in home training that a chef deserves. While I don’t visualize myself cooking for people commercially, it surely comes in handy on “date night” I have become very impressive to some of the ladies. I have found your recipes east to follow, great tasting and the pictures look fabulous. I am getting hungry as I am typing. I am hoping for another post soon so that I can get to the store and start on another “Allison” masterpiece. Your husband is a lucky guy, I assume that you cook for him 24/7!!!

  3. Allison, you sound like a girl after my own heart. I’ve spent a little time here this morning (not enough), and I think I’ve fallen in love with your blog! Your pictures are perfect, and your writing makes me feel happy. And ready to cook! I’m so grateful you left a note for me on my blog yesterday, or I may not have found you. That would have been a tragedy. Even Hubby is here telling me to get back to the Garden Veggie Feta post so we can make it this morning. We’re having a “snow event” and we’re pretty sure that recipe will cheer us up.

    Have a wonderful day!

  4. I just wonder where you are! ^^ I hope you have a wonderful day somewhere! bye! from your neighbor!

  14. Your blog is simply exceptional. I love it and will surely come back again to cook, to learn, to borrow ideas, and to just browse around and admire your beautiful recipes! Thank you for the follow!!!

    • Thank you, Liz- that’s very kind. 🙂 I love that you said “borrow ideas.” That’s one of my favorite parts about reading/following blogs like yours. There are so many wonderful ideas out there, from the very simple to the more elaborate. It’s a lot of fun!

      Very nice to meet you!!

  15. Thank you for visiting my blog! Your blog is fantastic! I am glad that you visited so I could find yours! Where in NY are you originally from?

    • Well, so is yours!! I am happily following. 🙂

I’m originally from Northport (Long Island), with family in Stonybrook, Kings Park and in the city. I used to have family in Elmira, but they relocated for work to Omaha. The rest of my family are in CT and NJ (my Mom is with us in NC). It makes it very convenient for visiting when we head north! Are you in upstate NY?

  16. Hi there Allison,
lucky me finding your great blog,’nice recipes within photograph,
    nice to know you then……

    • Oh Dedy, I’m so late in responding. You’re so kind to comment and to follow along. I do enjoy what you share with all of us each week. I’d love to have a place at one of your beautiful dinners someday. 🙂

  17. I just found your blog and love it! Love your photos too. It’s something I really struggle with. I’ll definitely be back to read more. From one former New Yorker to another. 🙂

    • Hi Colleen,
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment and for your kind words (you are reminding me to plan a visit to NY in 2014!). My photography is definitely in a state of evolution and I’m always looking to improve. And, yes I too struggle with getting the right shots and lighting!

I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!
      Allison

Hope you’re having a great week!
      Allison

      • Thank you, Allison! I love that I now have a new blog friend! I agree, Pinterest is highly addictive… before you know it, you’ve spent hours pinning and re-organizing all of your boards! I love it. 🙂

Hope you’re having a great week as well — gear up for Thanksgiving!

        Ashley
